A journey of triumphing over the odds
During his tenure, H.E. Juma Al Majid has also held several key positions – governmental and semi-governmental – including Chairman for Dubai Economic Council, Vice Chairman for the UAE Central Bank, Vice Chairman for Emirates Bank International Ltd, Director for Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Board Member for AI Nisr Publishing (Gulf News), and others.
It has been over 70 years since H.E Juma Al Majid laid the foundation of the Group. His core philosophies of keeping the customer first, integrity and social responsibility still guide the Group’s vision for the future.

H.E. Juma Al Majid is commonly known as the man behind thousands of initiatives for he not only ventured in several businesses but also in numerous philanthropic initiatives. His generous support to education is recognised not only in the UAE but also globally. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai named Al Majid as the Islamic Personality of the Year of the 23rd edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (2019).
Truly a philanthropist at heart, Juma Al Majid founded the College of Islamic and Arabic Studies, offering free education to all. He also founded the National Charity School. He established the first Culture and Heritage Centre in Dubai which is now one of the world’s most important scientific and cultural heritage centres. He has also played a vital role as a member of the advisory committee for the Centre for The Middle Eastern Studies at the Harvard University, USA.
His passion and commitment to preserving literature and works have garnered him many awards including the King Faisal International Prize for Service of Islam (1990); the International Personality Award for Culture and Heritage Service from the Egyptian President (2000); the Cultural Personality of the Year Award at the Qareen Cultural Festival in Kuwait (2005); Taryam Omran Cultural Award for Enterprise (2007); and Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Award for Cultural and Scientific Achievement in 2006-2007. He was also honored with the Recognition Award – Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed AI Nahyan in 2011.
His Excellency is also currently the Chairman for Beit Al Khair Society and remains a man of vision, enterprise, and drive, and is the guiding light and inspirational force behind the Juma Al Majid Group.
