OUR HISTORY
Our journey began in the year 1950 when H.E Juma Al Majid established the Juma Al Majid Holding Group.
The Juma Al Majid Holding Group is more than just a business enterprise. Founded with a purpose, our unique heritage shapes the way we do our day-to-day activities.
For more than half a century, we have been going from strength to strength along with the nation of the UAE, the place that we call our home. We take great pride to be part of the UAE growth story as we lend our hand in building up the country. We credit our endurance to the guiding principles laid down by our Founder and will continue to uphold his legacy of simplicity, honesty, and integrity in all that we do. Today, the businesses, solutions, and products within Juma Al Majid Holding Group touch lives across boundaries and geographies.
TIMELINE
1950
H.E. Juma Al Majid establishes his first company, laying the foundations for the successful business conglomerate the Group is today.
1958
The Tyres & Batteries division is established and signs an exclusive agreement for the distribution of Yokohama Tyres in the UAE.
1962
H.E. Juma Al Majid extends his business into the FMCG sector by establishing Gulf Trading & Refrigerating Co. LLC (Gulfco).
1964
Gulfco gets appointed as the exclusive distributor for some of S C Johnson’s leading home and personal care brands in the UAE.
1965
Gulfco’s success story continues with the signing of a distribution agreement with Nestle's Perrier & Vittel.
1967
H.E. Juma Al Majid establishes General Navigation & Commerce Co. (GENAVCO) L.L.C for the supply of commercial vehicles, road construction equipment, quarry and mining equipment, material handling equipment, lubricants, and other industrial/construction equipment.
GENAVCO signs exclusive distribution agreements with MTU, Allison Transmission, BP oil lubricants and numerous others.
1971
Al Arabia for Technical Supplies & Contracts LLC is established to offer customers a wide range of technical items involving Air Conditioning Systems, Building materials & AC Accessories.
Office Equipment division is established bringing well-known international brands to the UAE market.
Al Arabia Electro Mechanical LLC is established to cater to the ever-growing demands of the UAE construction industry.
1972
Gulfco is appointed as distributor for Wrigley Confectionery in the UAE.
Gulf Development & Construction (INMA) LLC is established to service the ever-growing Construction & Industrial sectors.
1974
Inma Oman is established to service the Construction and Industrial sectors in Sultanate of Oman.
Office Equipment division gets appointed as the exclusive distributor for Konica (later renamed Konica-Minolta).
1976
Watches division signs an exclusive agreement for the distribution of Citizen watches in the UAE.
1977
Al Majid Ellis is established - later renamed as Al Arabia for Safety & Security L.L.C offering world-class products and services to major clients across the UAE.
1980
The Office Equipment division enters the Storage, Material Handling & Filing Solutions market by partnering with Kardex as its exclusive distributor in the UAE.
1981
Al Majid Travel is established as a full-service travel agency for corporate and leisure travel, conferences, and other services.
1982
GENAVCO enters the Commercial Vehicle market by signing an exclusive agreement for the distribution of Isuzu vehicles in the UAE.
Home Appliances Division signs exclusive agreements for the distribution of GE and Gibson home appliances in the UAE.
GENSERV - Oman is established to take on the need for heavy equipments in the Sultanate of Oman.
1983
Juma Al Majid Est. enters the automotive market by signing an exclusive agreement with Hyundai Motor Co. to bring the Hyundai brand to the UAE.
Juma Al Majid Est. establishes its Spare Parts & Service unit (SPS) to provide spare parts and after-sales support and services to Hyundai vehicles.
1984
Al Arabia for Technical Supplies & Contracts LLC signs exclusive agreement for the distribution of Trane air conditioning systems in the UAE.
1986
Al Arabia for Elevators & Moving Systems LLC is established and quickly signs an exclusive distribution agreement to represent the globally renowned Sigma Elevators.
Home Appliances Division signs an exclusive agreement for the distribution of Glemgas in the UAE.
INMA Gulf supplies FLYGT submersible pumps to Dubai Sewage Treatment Plant.
1988
Al Majid Motors is established to exclusively bring the KIA automotive brand to the UAE.
Al Arabia for Technical Supplies & Contracts signs exclusive agreement for the distribution of Wefatherm – PPR Pipe Systems from Germany in the UAE.
GENAVCO enters the soil compaction market by partnering with Hamm AG.
1989
Juma Al Majid Centre for Culture & Heritage is established
1990
Sky Line Travel, Tourism & Shipping LLC is established to become a trusted and admired travel agency in the UAE.
1993
GENAVCO enters the Warehousing & Material Handling market segment by partnering with Crown Equipment Corp.
1994
Operating under the Group’s Contracting & Services sector, Leader L.L.C. gets formed with the purpose of establishing a world class interior, fit out, and FF&E Company.
Sky Line Travel, Tourism & Shipping LLC gets appointed as the exclusive General Agent in the UAE for Air Algerie.
1997
Al Majid Property is established - further cementing the Group’s real estate foundations set by H.E Juma Al Majid from his earlier days.
Al Maarifa Mechanical Electrical Building Maintenance Co. LLC is established.
1999
Al Majid Investment Co. LLC is established to expand and diversify the group's asset exposure.
Awafi Foodstuff lnd. Co. L.L.C. is set up, to produce high-quality snack delicacies under the “Crunchos” brand name.
2001
GENAVCO further expands its product portfolio upon signing exclusive agreement with Boge for the supply of industrial compressors and compressed air systems in the UAE.
2003
The Group’s IT Department completes the ERP implementation for Oracle E-Business Suite.
2004
Al Arabia for Operations & Maintenance LLC is established as a service provider for hard and soft facilities management services.
2005
Awafi signs an exclusive agreement with Emirates Airlines for Crunchos to be served exclusively in First and Business Class.
2006
Al Arabia Technical Supplies & Contracts LLC gets selected to supply 14,000 Trane DX ducted split units for 1,000 villas in Palm Jumeirah.
2008
Juma Al Majid Est. and Yokohama Tyres celebrate 50 years of partnership in the UAE.
2011
GENAVCO further expands its Construction Equipment portfolio in the UAE with the dealership agreement with Shantui Construction Machinery Co., Ltd.
2012
Al Arabia Technical Supplies & Contracts LLC is recognized for the successful completion of the Catering Facilities for the new Doha International Airport.
2015
Office Equipment Division signs an exclusive agreement for the distribution of EBA Office & Heavy-Duty shredders in the UAE.
Juma Al Majid Est. introduces Genesis as a new luxury brand being Hyundai's upscale spinoff.
2016
Al Arabia Technical Supplies & Contracts LLC is appointed for refrigeration and stainless-steel fit outs for Souq Al Jubail by the Government of Sharjah.
2017
Office Equipment Division enters the automation of business applications market by partnering with EZOFIS – a Digital Transformation (DX) Solution provider – as its exclusive distributor in the UAE.
2018
A 15,892 sqm Hyundai and Genesys auto center facility is set up in Sharjah to provide spare parts and after-sales support and services.
Gulfco signs an exclusive agreement with Emirates Airlines for Perrier Sparkling Water to be served exclusively in First and Business Class.
The Group establishes Auto Body Center (ABC) to answer the growing needs of the automotive market in the UAE.
Burj Nahar Mall - part of a mixed-use project developed by Al Majid Property Company – opens its doors.
Al Majid Motors further expands its Kia operations with the opening of the 15,892 sqm auto center facility to provide spare parts and after-sales support and services in Sharjah.
2019
Genavco expands its UAE Storage & Handling Solution portfolio by signing an agreement with Godrej
The Group’s Gulfco celebrates 55 years of successful partnership with SC Johnson.
Genserv gets appointed as the sole distributor for Doosan generators and lighting towers in Oman.
Al Arabia Technical Supplies & Contracts LLC supplies Wefatherm PPR Pipes for Abu Dhabi Corniche Towers.
2020
Unilever awards Gulfco additional brands for exclusive distribution in the UAE.
Office Equipment Division expands its product portfolio and enters the digital labelling market by partnering with Brotech as its exclusive distributor in the UAE.
2021
Al Majid Motors announces the location of its new head office - Kia The Move, a new multi-level state-of-the-art showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai.
Tyres Division sets up a new Tyres Service Center in Al-Ain.
2022
Goody Middle East recognizes Gulfco with the Best-In-Class Seasonal Execution Award for having overachieved the set targets in 2021.
The Group awards Al Majid Motors/KIA with the prestigious 2021 Best Performing Business Unit Award
Hyundai Motor Co recognizes Juma Al Majid Est – Hyundai After-Sales with the Best Warranty & Quality Operation Award.
Hyundai Motor Co. recognizes Juma Al Majid Est. – Hyundai with the Best Customer Satisfaction Award for the Middle East Africa region.
The Group’s Contracting & Services Sector launches its e-Procurement platform.

The Group holds its Performance Awards Ceremony and recognizes Juma Al Majid Est./Hyundai and GENAVCO as best performing business units for 2022.
GENAVCO relocates its head office to a 160,000 sq. ft 3S facilities area in Umm Ramoul - Dubai.
Kia Motor Co. recognizes Al Majid Motors with the Best 2022 Sales Customer Satisfaction Award.
Al Arabia for Elevators & Moving Systems implements Microsoft Hololens’ Mixed Reality Technology.
Al Majid Property announces the opening of Jood Hotel Apartments
